Groundbreaking research and development projects – an example

Heros, pioneer underground

In the Mining RoX project, the Innok HEROS explores another frontier for autonomous robots: underground mines. Heat and humidity make mines a stressful work environment for people. Here, robots reduce mining costs, since expensive air conditioning is unnecessary in unmanned operation. Safety: In the event of a disaster, rescue robots help to find missing personnel. Mines operated by robots alone would not endanger human lives at all.

The photos above show a customized version of the Innok HEROS 444 with four-wheel drive. It is equipped with a robotic arm, 2 laser scanners, cameras and 2 Intel Core-i7 PCs. The robot is used in the research project of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg to explore mines and to grip and manipulate objects there. Learn more >
